NSWCCC Tennis
Having won the local PDSSSC Tennis competition in the beginning of August, our tennis squad progressed to the NSWCCC Tennis competition held in Bathurst on Monday, 31 August 2026.
Our team comprised of Aruvi Nadarajah (Year 11), Phylicia Liew (Year 9), Samara Colaco (Year 8) and Laxmitha Gopinath (Year 8).
All teams were guaranteed three matches in a round robin format, and each match comprised of four doubles and four singles sets. Our day begin with an almost three hour match with the team from Gosford where we were defeated by 6 sets to 2.
In match two we competed against the Albury team and ended with a 7-1 victory. The final match against MacKillop College Bathurst which ended, after eight sets of tennis, with the girls being on equal tally of sets and games.
Moving from the local tournament to the State finals was a huge jump in quality and power. Throughout these sets, winning or losing, our team members were gracious and gritty. In true OLMC fashion, Aruvi, Phylicia, Samara and Laxmitha played their hearts out, were happy and helpful, and seemingly endless in their energy.
My thanks to the families who travelled to Bathurst and remained with the team throughout the day. It was a gorgeous day to sit and watch tennis, have interesting conversations and celebrate the efforts of the OLMC team.
Congratulations girls! Keep practising and we will aim to return to the NSWCCC Bathurst competition in 2027.
