Why a Girl's School?

Students in girls' schools are intentionally equipped with the knowledge and skills required to overcome social and cultural gender biases. In doing so, they actively break the stereotypical norms that define women in society.

Our Lady of Mercy College Parramatta provides the perfect environment for girls to develop and maintain innate confidence and healthy self-belief. 100 per cent of the leadership positions at the College are held by girls. The power of mentoring and role modelling provided by past students provides girls with leadership development opportunities beyond those available in co-ed schools. OLMC balances the inequality in broader society through purposeful, targeted education, giving students the opportunity to excel academically, socially, and emotionally.

Students at OLMC Parramatta have been recognised by respected institutions and organisations for their achievements and awarded scholarships and cadetships including:

  • Sydney University Scholarship
  • Australian Catholic University Early Achievers’ Program
  • University of NSW Co-Op Scholarship
  • Student Leadership Scholarship at Macquarie University
  • Australian Lebanese Foundation Scholarship
  • PricewaterhouseCoopers Accounting Cadetship
  • University of Western Sydney Scholarship
  • Sydney Water Scholarship
  • FDC Women in Construction Scholarship

We acknowledge the Burramattagal People of the Darug Nation, the traditional custodians of the land in Parramatta. We acknowledge the Elders, past and present and their ancestors who have had a deep relationship with country.
