Principal's Welcome
Welcome to OLMC Parramatta, a Christ-centred learning community established by the Sisters of Mercy in 1889.
Our Lady of Mercy College Parramatta is a Christ-centred learning community established by the Sisters of Mercy in 1889. Founded on the Gospel of Jesus Christ, faithful to its Mercy tradition, OLMC is a Catholic independent girls’ school committed to excellence in education, respect for the dignity of each individual and the development of a strong sense of justice and social responsibility.
The OLMC motto – Sub Tuum Praesidium – taken from a third century hymn, places the College community under the protection of Mary, Mother of God.
Our vision is to provide a contemporary Mercy Education that empowers young women to lead with courage and act justly, making a difference in whatever sphere of life they choose to move, in the spirit of Catherine McAuley. For 115 years, the leadership of OLMC was in the hands of seven successive Sisters of Mercy. This enabled the development of the strong Mercy heritage, traditions and values that remain such a vibrant part of the College’s mission and community today.
As one of the oldest independent girls’ schools in NSW, we are experts in educating girls within a safe, joy-filled environment, supporting the academic wellbeing of each of our students. Our renowned success comes from our staff who have a deep understanding of how to meet developmental needs in adolescent girls, enabling our students to grow, learn, and strive for excellence.
"Mercy Girls are equipped to be critical, creative, and reflective thinkers. We aim to continually support them to make a positive difference in our world, following in the footsteps of the many Mercy women who have gone before them."
Our campus is designed to offer a range of contemporary learning spaces to grow our students as courageous, inquisitive, curious life-long learners. Our culture of excellence involves putting quality into everything we do. Excellence is about stepping outside our comfort zone and learning with a spirit of endeavour. We want our students to learn, to work together, and to strive to be the very best people they can be.
Our urban position, in the heart of bustling Parramatta, offers many opportunities for our students to connect with all facets of local community life including the growing myriad of business and cultural opportunities in Parramatta, as well as tertiary institutions and universities.
In partnership with our parents, we provide opportunities for our girls to challenge themselves, build resilience, take risks in learning, develop collaborative approaches and value personal excellence.
Mercy Girls show us every day that they can do anything, so my hope is that they will do what they love and find fulfillment and success in whatever path they choose.
I look forward to you joining us at OLMC Parramatta where, through a Mercy education, our girls can become courageous advocates with limitless possibilities.
