2026 Book Week
What a wonderful week of celebrating the joy of reading! Book Week 2026 brought the College community together to embrace this year’s theme, A Symphony of Stories, highlighting the powerful connections between literature, music and art.
One of the highlights of the week was our Symphony of Stories Competition, which attracted entries from 25 students. Participants combined music and visual art to interpret and celebrate a piece of writing, producing an impressive showcase of talent, imagination and literary appreciation.
Students enthusiastically participated in a range of Book Week activities throughout the week, including word searches, crosswords, mazes, designing new book covers, and guessing the number of bookworms in a jar. Many enjoyed our Beauty and the Beast sing-along, while others attended library sessions to explore the theme and spend time reading. Our much-loved Book Week Trivia, planned and facilitated by members of the Senior Book Club, was once again a tremendous success. Thank you to our senior students for their enthusiasm, organisation and leadership.
The celebrations culminated on Friday with a Book Week Mufti Day, as students and staff arrived and dressed as their favourite literary characters. Staff also enjoyed a special Book Week morning tea before the whole school came together at lunchtime for the Book Week Disco. Students danced and celebrated stories through music, while showcasing their imaginative costumes.

As our Academic Leaders reminded us at assembly, reading for pleasure offers benefits far beyond enjoyment. It supports academic achievement, enhances wellbeing, and nurtures lifelong learning. Through stories, we develop empathy, broaden our perspectives, and gain a deeper understanding of the world and the people around us.
As Book Week draws to a close, we encourage all students to continue their reading journey. Visit the library, discover something new, and borrow a book. If you're not sure where to start, our library team is always happy to help.
