OLMC Drama and Shakespeare

May 27, 2026 9:55 AM

In Term 1, OLMC proudly hosted the Shakespeare Carnival, showcasing a vibrant range of performances from students in Years 7–12 as part of the selection process for the Sport for Jove Regional Shakespeare Festival. From music composition and dance to ensemble scenes, duologues and devised pieces, students embraced the challenge of bringing Shakespeare’s works to life with enthusiasm and creativity.

We extend special recognition to every student who stepped onto the stage. Performing Shakespeare can be daunting, and the courage, commitment and imagination shown—particularly by our Year 7 students experiencing Shakespeare performance for the first time—was truly commendable. The Carnival is a valuable opportunity for students to build confidence, develop literacy and collaboration skills, and engage deeply with classic texts.

OLMC was thrilled to take five outstanding groups to the Regional Shakespeare Carnival at Abbotsleigh, where our students—some of the youngest performers in the festival—represented the College with distinction.

We are delighted to share that our music composition, dance and devised performance groups have been selected to progress to the State Festival at the Seymour Centre this June where they will partake in workshops with industry professionals and compete. Congratulations to all involved on this fantastic achievement!

We acknowledge the Burramattagal People of the Darug Nation, the traditional custodians of the land in Parramatta. We acknowledge the Elders, past and present and their ancestors who have had a deep relationship with country.
