The College has a strong music tradition tracing back to its origins – the first recorded major prize awarded to an OLMC student was the Trinity College Colony Medal for Piano in 1894. OLMC has a reputation for excellence in both ensemble and individual performance.
The College boasts a dedicated music centre, the Christina Creede Music Centre which features purpose built practice rooms (for group work activities and instrumental tuition), medium and large ensemble spaces, a digital Audio Transfer system and internal lift access directly into the College’s main performance space, the Edith Angel Hall.
Students can choose to receive private tuition from fully qualified professional musicians in a range of instruments including drums, electric bass, voice, violin, viola, french horn and piano.
Musicians showcase their talents by performing on a number of occasions including Christmas Carols in the Chapel, in-school functions, P& F and Alumnae functions, Mercy Day, whole school assemblies, Studio Concerts, Variety Night, Musical Evenings and performances for local organisations.
