Learning Support at OLMC is available to all students regardless of their academic ability. Students with a learning difficulty or disability may require ongoing support, while others may need assistance only occasionally or in a particular subject area. Students in Years 7 and 8 may participate in the Reading Tutor Program to improve their reading skills, while those in Years 9 to 12 may come to the Student Services Centre - or the "Cottage" - to learn more about writing essays, studying for exams or researching for assignments. Learning Support also provides special provisions for students sitting for school exams, and arranges applications to the Board of Studies for those needing special provisions in the School Certificate or Higher School Certificate. Advice and assistance is also available to students who are academically gifted and who may require adjustment to the regular school curriculum through acceleration or enrichment.

As well as the Learning Support Coordinator, the Learning Support team includes the ESL Teacher, the Literacy and Numeracy Teacher and two very experienced Teacher's Aides. In addition, four volunteer Reading Tutors visit each week to assist with the reading program.

As an inclusive school, OLMC values all learners. All teachers at the College are involved in the day-to-day task of differentiating the curriculum to cater for the various needs of the students in their classroom. The College tries to do everything possible to minimise barriers to learning and participation so that all students have equal access to the curriculum and to the chance to achieve at their own level of ability.

Careers Department

The Careers Department provides information, counseling, events and activities to assist students to make informed decisions regarding their post-school options. A wide range of resources is available for students in the Careers Resource Room located in the Student Services Centre.
