Alumnae

The OLMC Parramatta Alumnae began in essence in 1922 when Dorrie Murphy was finally able to convince Mother Francis to support the foundation of the Ex-students Association. As well as being a way of maintaining school friendships, the Association was to raise funds for the charitable works of the Sisters. During its long history many women dedicated themselves to promoting both of these functions of the Association with great dedication and success and it is a celebration of what they achieved that the OLMC Parramatta Alumnae was created to continue this vital function for all the former students of OLMC Parramatta.

The tradition of the Ex-students' Association was formally extended in 2004 when the OLMC Parramatta Alumnae was created. This was a direct result of the incorporation of the College and the appointment of a Board of Directors in 2002 by the Trustees of the Sisters of Mercy Parramatta.

The inaugural Alumnae Executive were:

President:
Jill Fogarty OAM (LC 1964)
Vice Presidents:
Rebecca Patrick (HSC 1992)
Adla Abraham (HSC 1994)
Secretary:
Carly Hannan (HSC 1994)
Treasurer:
Michelle Carter (HSC 1998)
Committee members:
Sharon McClean (HSC 1972)
Deretta Andrews (HSC 1969)
Helen Clarke (HSC 1972)
Mary Hatten (HSC 1972)
Judy Doyle (HSC 1968)

Within its first year of office the Executive focused on improving the communication network within the Ex-student community as well as its relationship and involvement with the current College community. Programs such as Mentoring, a combined History Morning for current Year 9 students and former students of the 1930s and 1940s, and the Occupational Register were initiated so that current students could enjoy the support and experiences of other "Mercy Women". This is a vital component of the Alumnae as it sees itself as having a major role in supporting initiatives, which involve the sharing of wisdom and heritage between the generations of women who have attended OLMC Parramatta.

The needs of the Ex-student community were also supported as functions were held which drew attendance from a variety of years and decades, enabling this community the opportunity to socialise, reminisce and celebrate the achievements of notable former members of the College.
